What It Is

BioTracking offers testing for Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV), which producers can administer using either ear-notches or blood serum samples. Both are proven ways to detect the on-farm presence of the virus.

The IDEXX HerdChek® BVDV Antigen ELISA Ear-Notch and Serum Test, performed by BioTracking, is an enzyme-linked immunoassay for the detection of BVDV. This test is the only USDA-licensed test for detecting BVDV persistently infected (PI) calves, which are a major source of transmission of the virus, and it is the fastest and most accurate method for detecting PI calves using ear-notch samples.

Testing for cattle and calves infected with BVDV is an important investment in the health and performance of your herd. Producers make significant management and culling decisions based on BVDV test results, so the test they use must be accurate and reliable.
