How It Works

BioPRYN® begins with the collection of a blood sample from the animal. The samples are then shipped to a laboratory where an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is performed. Reports may be sent via mail, phone, email or fax.

Using BioPRYN assures accuracy. The assay is greater than 99 percent accurate when an animal is categorized as open, giving producers confidence to restart the breeding process. The false-pregnant (false-positive) rate for the test is approximately 5 percent. It is presumed that a portion of this variance is due to early embryonic death, which is a challenge regardless of which method is used for pregnancy detection.
