What is BioPRYN®wild?

BioPRYN®wild is a blood-based pregnancy detection method for wildlife. It measures the presence of Pregnancy-Specific Protein B (PSPB) in the blood circulation of the female. The PSPB is a protein is produced by the placenta of the growing fetus. The assay is accurate with most wildlife ruminant species, including deer, elk, moose, bison, big horn sheep, mountain goats, and others. The test is a enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Tests must be done at the Idaho central laboratory. The BioTracking lab conducts tests biweekly and results are available on the weekend of the test week. The assay takes three days to complete. BioPRYN®wild begins with collection of a blood sample from the animal. The samples are then shipped to BioTracking, LLC where a ELISA is performed. Data are reported via email, fax, phone, or mail. Using BioPRYN®wild assures accuracy. When the wildlife producer or veterinarian draws blood samples from the animal(s) at the correct time (40 days in deer, elk, moose and other ruminant wildlife) after breeding the pregnancy question is answered efficiently and accurately!
